Best of November


Four or five years ago someone told me that November is supposed to be the time of the year when I feel my best, my time to have a great time, to shine, because it is when I was born. I always thought it was a big fat lie, because if I look back at the past 7 or 8 years, it was always the opposite! I either had a cold or something was worrying me... until this year. I'm not saying for a second that this is because of what that person told me, but I have had a truly great month. It feels as if I woke up from the anesthesia a happier version of myself. I've got a deeper appreciation for the amazing people in my life, whether they are friends or family (sometimes the lines blur between the two), for health, I have developed better healthier habits, I feel really motivated about my work life and feel so much more comfortable in my own skin.

So, if I had to choose one thing that was the absolute best in November, it would be this sense of growing into the person I want to be. Wow, that sounds corny! But it is true, so I will say it and make no apologies for it!

Of course there have been other things that I have really enjoyed this month, and I'm going to tell you about them right now!

Spinach and avocado smoothie for hangovers

Today's post is completely a last minute thing. Earlier this week I asked my friends on Sunshine & Glow's Facebook page what I should write about, and the consensus was quick lunches to take to work. I had every intention to look for some interesting recipes that were quick to prepare and good for taking to the office, but then it was my birthday yesterday and I wanted it to be a nice relaxing time instead of being busy writing a post. I celebrated it last night and had a few glasses of prosecco and well, let's say that I have been feeling a bit delicate today!

I had made peace with the thought of taking a break this weekend, when I suddenly thought I could share the recipe of the green smoothie I have pretty much every time I feel a bit hungover. Whenever I feel under the weather I love eating something really fresh and healthy, as it makes me feel like I am doing something good for my body.

Beauty rituals

Months ago I wrote a post about how positive having a good routine is. At the time I was caught up in embracing spontaneity a tad too much. I still like to be spontaneous, but I think giving some structure to small parts of your day can be very enjoyable. A huge part of the pleasure we get out of make up and skincare is the ritual of putting it on, of using that cream.

So... Fast forward 8 months and when I look at my mornings now they look so different! I like my mornings to have a slow start, even during the week, so I get up a bit earlier so that I can sit down for breakfast and have time to have a browse on Bloglovin', read a few posts, reply to comments, etc. But let's rewind a little bit and let me share my beauty rituals.
